Are You Maximizing Netflix?

We don’t use Netflix because we don’t watch a lot of movies but a lot of our friends do. One of the things I notice quite a bit, and something that my friends freely admit, is that my friends don’t watch a lot of movies either and they will have the same movies for weeks at a time.

I find the Blockbuster delivery version of NetFlix to be quite a good alternative too. Similar price, plus instead of waiting around for DVDs to come in the mail, if you particularly compelled one night you can go down to your local BlockBuster and exchange for a new release no extra charge. Good deal.

This seems like a lot of work just to prove that you are losing the equivelent of 61 cents per week on unrented movies haha. At the same time, as the author pointed out, consumers often choose Netflix for more nebulous reasons, such as their customer service, flexibility, library, etc- factors which are difficult to quantify.

Ours came out at $3/movie, but I have to agree with kritz. We do not have cable - I choose instead to get TV series via netflix (no commercials) and movies for "days out". It is a lot cheaper than cable. I love the flexibility and so it is completely worth the $18 a month (for me at least). We have not tried instant movies, which would make the "cost" go down. But, then again, do you measure your cable bill by how many hours of TV you watch? Seems like a surefire way to become a couch potato.

Well, I doubt the efficiency of Netflix. I may sound unconventional here. But don't want to spend more on watching movies.

I think the cost effectiveness of Netflix depends on the person. If you like movies - watching them, buying them, Netflix will probably save you money. I've only gone out to two movies over the past two years, and I've barely bought any DVDs. The money I've saved in these two areas more than covers the subscription cost.
