Heartland Payment provides card processing services at a volume of more than 100 million in credit card transactions on a monthly basis, and they provide these services to over a quarter of a million businesses including retailers, payroll systems and restaurants. And this past Tuesday, Heartland Payment very quietly released a statement which announced that their processing system had been hacked.
