Even if you disagree with the bonuses, a knee-jerk reaction by the government hurts everyone. The letter was very well written, and shows the human side of the witch-hunt victims.

The letter is very interesting.... I'd been losing interest in the AIG saga, but this is a good story.

Why would Mr. De Santis choose to air his grievances in public? Why does his letter have to go to the NY Times? When you really look at it, Mr. DeSantis is only trying to separate himself from the 'wrongdoers' in AIG. Do we really believe that everyone in AIG was responsible for this catastrophe? Of course not. Yet, Mr. DeSantis feels he has to show how innocent he is. It feels like he is trying to get his 15 minutes, and I am only adding to it with this comment. But, his letter is just for sensationalism: no more, no less; he is actually only adding fuel to the witch hunt fire.

My impression is that his point is that the mob mentality of the congress/press/public is only making things worse, not better. I actually saw him as a semi-empathetic character, while I don't feel "bad" for him, I think he's making valid points.
