I agree that soliders deserve more pay and more benefits, but it's possible to achieve that with lower spending. (I Tip'd this because soldiers definitely deserve more)

I think that it's possible as well, but additionally working off the premise that stimulus spending is good (a premise with which I tend to agree, with reservations), I certainly think that it makes sense to direct some stimulus money to our troops.

I agree with you. I can't think of anyone who deserves stimulus money more than people who put their lives on the line for us. Especially when you hear about things like museums, foreign birth control, and anti-suicide fences that are getting our tax dollars.

Yeah, museums are terrible and contribute nothing to the economy or the human civilization whatsoever.

The suggestion is that increasing soldiers' earnings is a more reasonable approach to stimulus than say bailing out failing companies. I would however argue that museums are not particularly "shovel ready" projects and the improvements will take longer to benefit the country as a whole than an increased military presence. Fortunately it's not an either-or question, as we're spending trillions of dollars.
