For the first time since comScore began tracking the figures in 2001, online holiday sales dropped in November and December of 2008. The dip may have been partially due to the calendar -- the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas was shorter this year -- but economic woes were likely a big factor. However, as some major brick-and-mortar chains fold, e-commerce may pick up some of their slack.
