UK rates slashed to 3% -- lowest since the 1950s

The Bank of England has slashed UK interest rates by 1.5% to 3%, the largest cut since the 1980s and the lowest point since the 1950s.
The cut was followed by calls for banks to "swallow their pride" and pass it on to mortgage holders and small businesses.
