Is there a FAQ that spells out appropriate use of the categories? I trust that Green is suitable for news regarding a Solar or Wind related business news, but not for advice say, on gardening?

Joe, take a look at our guidelines here: http://tipd.com/guidelines

The rule of thumb: we have subcategories, but those are merely subcategories. All submissions should be business/financial focused. After all, we also have a Tech category, and if we followed the logic for Tech that you're applying for Green, Tip'd would be overtaken by "10 Best Apps for Ripping Your DVD," or "How to Crack Your Windows Installation," which are both tech.

By the way, when I wrote this comment, there were only TWO tips on this story. Did the other nine of you not read this story, merely voting because a friend requested it, or do you not know our guidelines? :(

The guidelines are clear. The issue is not with Tip'd or you. It's that many members who are PF Bloggers also think "frugal." So without thinking first, the post's concept was on topic in their own minds, even though it was outside Tip'd's venn diagram of green.

(i.e. understood that it was offtopic here, no issue, but understood how others also tip'd it) I'd have tip'd as well, but I saw your note first. :)
