23rd Bank Failure of 2008 and Two Common FDIC Myths

First Georgia Community Bank was the 23rd bank failure of this year. Depositors at this bank have nothing to worry about. I've recently seen someone mention two common myths about bank failures: 1) claiming your money is long and painful, and 2) interest on a CD is generally not insured. All 23 closures this year have shown these to be false if your deposits are under the FDIC limits. Excerpts from the FDIC on this closure show why these are false.
